Registered Massage Therapist

I am a registered massage therapist (RMT)  with a special interest in women's health, pregnancy, postpartum, as well as chronic pain.

My passion is to help people find comfort and confidence in their body during treatment and be a resource for people wanting a plan for home care.

I use client centred approach to care. My goal is to listen to the client, discuss their goals and how they want to achieve them, and together create and implement their treatment plan. My treatment style and techniques vary depending on the needs of the client but tends towards a slow, comfortable pressure focusing on calming the nervous system to send the message of safety to the brain.

Clients often leave treatment saying that they are deeply relaxed, and have less tension and pain.

A few of my loves outside of the treatment room: volunteering with Pain BC as a health coach for people living with chronic pain, listening to podcasts about psychology and sociology, walking the seawall, all things music, and spending time being silly with my loved ones.

I am practicing massage therapy at Embody Massage Therapy. A tranquil clinic in the heart of Kitsilano.

Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.

Some of the common reasons people seek massage therapy are:

work related tension and discomfort

headaches and migraines

sport or hobby related discomforts/injuries

stress or anxiety

low back pain

plantar fasciitis

Pregnancy is a time of many changes. Massage therapy during this time is often used to help as people are adjusting to these changes as well as for non-pregnancy related health challenges. Common pregnancy related symptoms that massage may help with are:

stress and anxiety

back, hip, rib, pubic bone pain

muscles cramps

carpal tunnel

sleep disturbances

Currently 1 out of every 5 Canadians is living with chronic pain which is defined as any pain that re-occurs or persists longer than 12 weeks. Many factors may contribute to pain that persists outside the expected healing time frame and many modalities and treatments may be used in combination to treat it. Massage therapy can be helpful as one of those modalities by providing a pleasing distraction to the nervous system, maintaining or improving mobility, and educating patients about current pain science and resources available to them. Some of the chronic pain conditions massage therapy has been helpful for are:

headaches and migraines

postsurgical pain

post-trauma pain

neurological pain

multiple sclerosis

low back pain

Postpartum may be a time of rapid adjustments, sleep changes, new daily activities as well as the joys and stresses of parenthood. Massage at this time may be helpful in managing:

discomforts from pushing a stroller, holding, carrying, breast or bottle feeding baby

stress and anxiety

sleep disturbances

joint pain
